to choose Domain Name & Space for hosting?

hostingAt least there are 2 important things when we decide to put and publish our website in Internet (commercial server):
1. deciding the Domain Name?
2. deciding how much space we need for the website?

This week I just bought 3 webhostings for “smsegov.info” , “miias.info” , “nuraniinsani.org” with 25MB space for each.
—————
1. Domain Name

Often we wonder whether we will use ‘generic top-level domain’: .com , .org , . net, .gov , .info , .edu , or others.

Let’s understand the difference among of them:

. com

It is officially intended to designate commercial website, but there has been no restriction on who can register .com domains since the mid-1990s. It is the most common top-level domain for website.

——————

.info

is intended for informative website.

——————

.org

originally intended for use by organization’s website.

——————

.net

initially intended to be used only for the computers of network providers (such as Internet Service Providers).

——————-

.name

intended for the use of individuals’ real names, nicknames, screen names, pseudonyms, or other personal names (e.g. “tony.name”)

——————-

.biz

intended for domains to be used by businesses; the name is a phonetic spelling of the first syllable of “business.” It was created to relieve some of the demand for the good domain names available in the” .com” top-level domain, and to provide an alternative to businesses whose preferred .com domain name had already been registered by another party.

———————-

.pro

intended for business use by qualified professionals (such as lawyers, accountants, physicians and engineers).

———————-

.edu

originally intended for educational institutions anywhere in the world.

….. and there are still many (other options )

2. Hosting Space

I think 10 MB is enough for your Personal Web, but 25 MB is better for your organization for beginning…don’t worry you can upgrade later if you found you need more space.

Note:

Other considerations when choosing Service Providers are:

– Try first the access speed? (for example, try accessing one of the website’s consumers)

Support your programs? (e.g. PHP, MySQL, wordpress, …)

Price?

Support?

In case of me, I prefer to buy from my friend who is online 24 hours with server in US, fast access, and ready to help me 24 hours by chatting🙂
